Delivering the 10th annual Common Reading Invited Lecture will be Khalida Brohi, activist for women’s rights, social entrepreneur, global speaker, and founder of the Sughar Empowerment Society in Pakistan to help educate and empower women.

When she was a teenager in the Balochistan region of Pakistan, Khalida Brohi witnessed the honor killing of her friend, who had married for love. Today’s she’s the founder and executive director of the Sughar Empowerment Society. That nonprofit provides Pakistani tribal women with education, skills, and income opportunities to empower them to take leadership roles. Join a live broadcast of Brohi’s presentation at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27.
