FAFSA will be available Oct. 1

Financial aid deadlines for the 2017-18 academic year have changed, and students can begin applying for financial aid soon.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Washington Application for State Aid (WASFA) will be available Oct. 1 for students to complete, and students will use their 2015 tax information on their applications. The priority funding deadline for the FAFSA/WASFA is Nov. 30 for current students. The WSU General Scholarship Application deadline is Jan. 31, 2017.

These earlier dates will make it easier for WSU students and their families to complete these key financial aid applications right away since they’ll be using 2015 tax income information, and also give them information sooner to better anticipate financial aid and college costs for the upcoming year.

These are the important dates and WSU filing deadlines:

  • October 1: 2017-18 FAFSA/WASFA opens for completion.
  • November 30: Priority funding deadline for current WSU students.
  • January 31, 2017: WSU General Scholarship Application deadline.
  • February 15, 2017: Additional Information Request deadline.
