Women Leading: Turning Bias into Opportunity

October 3 at 11 a.m., Advance at WSU will be sponsoring Dr. Carnes as she explains the origins of the unconscious or implicit gender bias that has been shown to impede women’s progress into leadership positions, particularly in the STEM fields.  She discusses some studies that show specific ways that bias affects women’s access to leadership positions and success while in those positions, and then points out ways that the study would suggest that women can either work around that barrier, or even use it to their advantage.
