Brelsford WSU Visitor Center Battle of the Palouse wine tasting, extended football hours

Join the Brelsford WSU Visitor Center for a Battle of the Palouse pre-game wine tasting event Friday night before the Washington State University Cougars and University of Idaho Vandals meet on Martin Stadium’s turf.

Friday’s tasting will be the first in a series of pre-game wine tasting events intended to highlight various Cougar alumni actively working in the wine industry and WSU’s viticulture and enology program during the football season. The first event will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 at the Brelsford WSU Visitor Center, located at 150 E. Spring St. Events will vary between Fridays and Saturdays of home game weekends.

The visitor center will also open at 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 to assist fans with any pre-game questions or directions. Extended hours will continue throughout the season for all home games with doors opening at least four hours prior to kickoff.

The Battle of the Palouse tasting event will embrace the neighborly rivalry between WSU and UI, featuring four wineries within the greater Palouse region. Featured wineries include Wawawai Canyon Winery in Uniontown, Merry Cellars in Pullman, Basalt Cellars in Clarkston and Lindsay Creek Vineyards in Lewiston.

Tasting tickets cost $5 and can be purchased beginning at 4 p.m. Friday at the visitor center. Tickets are limited to one per person, include a commemorative Brelsford WSU Visitor Center wine glass and four 1-ounce tastings. Attendees must be 21 or older to participate in the tasting and identification is required.
