Mercury transit at Jewett Observatory

In the morning on Monday, May 9, Mercury will pass between the sun and the earth. Telescopes and low-tech observing aids at Jewett Observatory will be trained on the sun, weather permitting, to track this rare event. The transit will already be in progress at sunrise, and will last until 11:42 a.m.

Jewett Observatory is at approximately Grimes & Olympia. See physics.wsu.edu/observatory/ for directions and more information. This event is free to the public.

Never look directly at the sun.
