Being a Coug is a privilege; being civically engaged is a responsibility; being the change is a commitment. At the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE), we love being civically engaged Cougs, and during the week of April 17-23, we want to show you why! Civic Engagement Week is our time to celebrate WSU’s commitment to making a difference in the community and to provide even more opportunities for to you to stay informed and get involved.
Every weekday, we’ll hold an information table on the CUB first floor. You’ll have the chance to spin our prize wheel to win cool prizes like t-shirts and coffee mugs, register to vote, and learn about upcoming civic engagement opportunities. You’ll also be able to enter our raffle for a Cougar colored refurbished bike from Palouse Bicycle Collective!
In addition to our daily information able, Civic Engagement Week features a variety of service projects for Pullman and Global campus students, the Leadership and Engagement Awards of Distinction (LEAD) event on April 19, a Public Square discussion about water privatization that is live streamed for Global students on April 21, and the annual Greek Door-to-Door Food Drive on April 23.
We’ll also be celebrating Earth Day on Friday, April 22, by offering several special service projects and joining the Environmental Sustainability Coalition’s annual Earth Day Fair from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.. Join us for a project or stop by the fair to learn how you can become more eco-friendly.
Civic Engagement Week is the CCE’s time to thank those civically engaged Cougs and friends for all they have done and will do to make the world a better place and to inspire those who are just getting started.
