- Are you using technology to foster affordable access to educational resources?
- Do you use freely-available applications or open educational resources in your classes?
- Have you developed an open app or tool to facilitate learning?
In celebration of Open Education Week, the WSU Libraries and Academic Outreach and Innovation invite faculty members and graduate students to participate in an Educational Technology Petting Zoo centered on affordable learning technologies. We are hosting this event in recognition of rising concerns over the cost of educational materials. As demonstrated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, textbook costs have increased more than 950% since the late 1970s–a degree of inflation that far outpaces the rise in cost of housing and medical expenses over the same time period. We wish to acknowledge the quality, low-cost educational alternatives that instructors are using in their teaching at WSU.
The Educational Technology Petting Zoo will take place Wednesday, April 20, from 2-4 p.m. in the Terrell Library Quiet Study Lounge. If you would be willing to share an affordable technology or application that you have used, we invite your contributions to the event. Please register as a participant at:
