Dr. Larry Cebula – Digital Projects in the Classroom and the Community: The Case of SpokaneHistorical.org (Lecture)

Join us for a public talk with Dr. Larry Cebula titled “Digital Projects in the Classroom and the Community: The Case of SpokaneHistorical.org.” This lecture is part of the CDSC Spring Series and will take place Thursday, April 14, from 2 – 4 p.m. in the CDSC (Holland Libraries, 4th Floor).

Dr. Cebula will discuss the history of Spokane Historical, an innovative experiment in digital pedagogy. Eastern Washington University launched Spokane Historical in 2013 as a smartphone app and website where students present their research on topics of local and regional history. Since its debut, Spokane Historical has grown from 30 to almost 400 stories, and has had numerous ancillary benefits including career opportunities for students, community and national recognition for the university, and some surprising and enriching partnerships.
