As of Jan. 26, award-winning advisor and counselor April Seehafer will lead the WSU Distinguished Scholarships Program as its director.
The program is part of WSU Undergraduate Education, and offers an array of services to students preparing to apply for prestigious, nationally competitive scholarships, such as the Fulbright, the Goldwater, and the Rhodes. Sarah Ann Hones led the program since it began in 2011-12; Hones retired from WSU this past summer.
A WSU alumna, Seehafer has devoted two decades to her professional career at this university. She has built a broad base of knowledge and expertise by assisting thousands of students and managing university programs and policies dedicated to student success. Appreciative students voted her “Best Advisor” in March 2015, as publicized in The Daily Evergreen’s students’ choice award edition.
She served from 2007 to 2016 as the academic coordinator and advisor to aspiring nursing students in the Health Professions Student Center. Previously, she was assistant director of the Office of Admissions, and served as a scholarship and financial aid counselor in the Office of Student Financial Services.
