Ed Pate Memorial Service

There will be a memorial service for Ed Pate at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan 12, at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman.

Dr. Pate had been a faculty member at WSU for 35 years, ultimately having his tenure home in the Voiland School’s bioengineering program where he had a profound impact on the lives of others. Dr. Pate was well known for his work in computational and quantitative biology, with applications to Muscle Physiology, Biophysics and Biomechanics. Recently, with his collaborators at UCSF, he identified a “Super-Relaxed State” in muscles and was exploring the implication of this muscle state on health. Dr Pate’s research was continuously funded by the NIH for many years. Dr. Pate was a strong advocate for younger researchers, an intelligent and deep-thinking individual, and an excellent colleague. He will be missed by his colleagues at WSU and around the nation.
