MLK16 screening the movie Selma on Jan. 14 in the CUB

As part of the 2016 MLK Program, Diversity Education and the CCGRS Critical Film Collective will show the award-winning 2014 film, Selma.  Selma is the true story of a movement that takes place over a three-month period in 1965 during the Civil Rights Movement. The film highlights the dangerous struggle led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition.  The march from Selma to Montgomery resulted in President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, one of the most important victories for the Civil Rights Movement.

The film is an excellent way to connect students here at WSU with the Selma march, the upcoming Selma photo exhibit, and to this important historical event.

Selma will be shown Jan 14, 6 p.m., in the CUB Auditorium. We hope to see you there!
