The Washington State University (WSU) Press will host its twenty-fourth annual holiday book fair on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 11 a.m.– 3 p.m., in the Terrell Library Atrium on the Pullman campus. The fair highlights books published throughout the year and is open to everyone. Festivities include steep discounts of 20 -70% on all titles, drawings for free books, and complimentary refreshments.
This year, author Bill Stimson will sign copies of his book, Instilling Spirit: Students and Citizenship at Washington State, 1892-1942. Stimson earned his PhD in American History from WSU and is now a professor of Journalism at Eastern Washington University. A true Cougar at heart, this is Stimson’s second book about WSU student life. Author Darin Watkins will also be present to personalize copies of his latest work, Chance for Glory: The Innovation and Triumph of the Washington State 1916 Rose Bowl Team. Watkins is a 1984 WSU graduate who worked as a television news reporter for 25 years, covering many Apple Cups and both Rose Bowls. He currently works as the Director of Communications for WSU’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication.
The fair will feature eight other new titles on a variety of subjects including the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption; the history of Priest Lake, Idaho; Jesse Applegate’s 1846 expedition for the southern Oregon Trail; commercial photographer and adventurer Asahel Curtis; a tour guide of southeast Oregon; Yellowstone’s Wylie Camping Company; and Native American oral histories.
