WSU stands against poverty during Poverty Awareness Week 2015

Each year, the WSU Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) invites students, staff, faculty, and community members to help raise awareness of poverty issues during the week before Thanksgiving break, November 15-21. Throughout this week, the CCE partners with WSU departments, student groups, and community organizations to hold a variety of events and activities.

Events include food, supplies, and clothing drives; fundraisers supporting the Fisher Foundation and Tom’s Turkey Drive; documentary showings, including Man in the Maze, Last Call at the Oasis, and A Place at the Table; and discussions covering topics such as exploring stereotypes of those living in poverty, homelessness in Seattle, power dynamics and poverty, and the connection between poverty and violence. Visit cce.wsu.edu/paw for a complete list of events and sponsors as well as more information on poverty. Use #CougsAgainstPoverty on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to share your thoughts and photos. Join the CCE to show the world that Cougs stand against poverty during Poverty Awareness Week this year.
