Nov. 9-10: Conference on field phenomics and data management

Washington State University will host a conference on ‘Advances in Field-Based High-throughput Phenotyping and Data Management: Grains and Specialty Crops.’ Two-day conference will be held at Red Lion Hotel at the Park, Spokane, WA on Nov. 9-10.  Plant breeding, sensing, automation, plant biology, computer science focus area experts working towards field based high-throughput phenotyping and data management will discuss the current status, gaps, and future needs in this area.

The conference is funded by USDA-NIFA AFRI Foundation Plant Breeding for Agricultural Production program and covers the registration fees and meals for up to 60 participants. Organizing team includes WSU researchers: Dr. Sindhuja Sankaran, Department of Biological Systems Engineering; Dr. Arron H. Carter, Department of Crop and Soil Sciences; Dr. Helmut Kirchhoff, Institute of Biological Chemistry; and Dr. Lee Kalcsits, Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center, along with experts from other U.S. institutes.
