WSU has extended the Angel LMS for an extra semester to give faculty more time to prepare courses in the new Blackboard Learn Platform. Angel, due to go off-line in August, will now be available until Dec. 30, and both Angel and Blackboard Learn will be available for Fall 2015. All Angel courses must be migrated to Blackboard by Dec. 30.
To help with the switchover, Academic Outreach and Innovation is offering a full range of personal help. You can:
- Have one of our experts come to your office
- Drop by our open lab
- Attend a workshop
- Get answers by email or through our chat box
To access any of these resources, visit lmstransition.wsu.edu. To access your new Blackboard course spaces, go to learn.wsu.edu and log in with your WSU NID and password. And, if you have any questions, send us a note at migrationhelp@wsu.edu.
If you’d like to get started on your own, AOI has created a series of tutorial videos. You can begin with Blackboard Learn – Basics, which covers basic functions. Blackboard also has a video series; here’s the first one, an orientation video that goes over the course environment. And here’s a playlist of other short Blackboard tutorial videos. If you prefer to read text, you can find those resources here.
If you’ve taught the course before, AOI has already placed content from previous Angel courses into Blackboard. You can easily copy that content into a new course space. Here’s how: Copying Material Between Blackboard Learn Course Spaces.
Once you have the content in the space, you’ll probably need to make adjustments. Here’s a tutorial video on Content Editor.
Other videos that may help you set up your course are:
- How to add media to your course
- Creating Groups Part 1 and Part 2
- Creating a Test (short version) and Test & Quizzes Training (longer version)
- How to Build a Pool of Questions
- Gradebook Training
- Creating Rubrics
When you are done, be sure to activate your course space so your students can access the material.
Again, if you have any questions or issues, let AOI help. Just go to lmstransition.wsu.edu to find personal support options, or send us an email.
