Candidate Presentations for Native American Retention Specialist

Candidates for the position of Native American Retention Specialist will be on campus this week. Presentations by the candidates are scheduled for Tuesday 6/23 and Thursday 6/25, from 2-3pm in Cleveland 21A. The public is invited.

The candidate visiting on Tuesday is Ian Stroud. Ian is the Assistant Director of Native American Student Affairs at North Carolina State University. He earned an M.Ed. from the University of Vermont in 2008. Previously, he served in offices of Residence Life and Student Leadership at other institutions.

The candidate visiting on Thursday is Keniahkiw Weso. “Kay Kay” is an Academic Advisor at Bryant and Stratton College in Milwaukee, WI. She was also an Academic Advisor in the Native  American Center and served as Visiting Prof. of Music at Fort Lewis College. She earned a BA in Business Admin.-Marketing from Fort Lewis in 2003.

The Native American Retention Specialist provides Native students with the intellectual, academic, cultural and social support that will contribute to their success at WSU through graduation and career development.  They are housed in the Native American Student Center.
