As researchers we are increasingly challenged to engage in problems that address broader societal challenges. These opportunities introduce terms like logic models, broader impacts, economic development, and stakeholders into our project lexicon. This session will discuss some of the issues and engage a broader discussion about how we, as researchers, engage.
Facilitator: Dr. Michael Wolcott is WSU Regents Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Director of the Institute for Sustainable Design. He has received numerous awards both for his teaching and research accomplishments. In 2012, he was named a fellow for the International Academy of Wood Science in recognition of his work in wood research. Dr. Wolcott holds five patents for innovative materials and structures from wood and natural fibers. He also serves as co-project director for the Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance (NARA) project, which aims to develop a supply chain for aviation biofuels.
