Devon Seymour Named September 2014 Service Star

Each month, the Center for Civic Engagement’s Service Star Program recognizes outstanding students who demonstrate exemplary service by impacting the community and demonstrating leadership and teamwork abilities.

Devon Seymour has been named the September 2014 Service Star Award because of her commitment to encouraging WSU and WSU students to support the SR530 Mudslide that occurred this past spring. Devon has put together many events to provide assistance to members of the affected communities of Arlington, Darrington, and Oso, including the organization of a silent auction that raised over$15,000. Devon’s nominator states, “Devon has not only acted with professionalism and grace while taking on multiple complex projects; she has recruited and supervised other students to work on those projects with her with her […] and planned and executed a student service trip to the affected area”. Devon’s commitment to the relief in these communities is exemplary and does not go unnoticed! Congratulations, Devon, and thank you for your service!

Nominations can be submitted by WSU faculty and staff, community partners, or other students. If you would like to learn more about the Service Star award or would like to submit a nomination, visit cce.wsu.edu.
