Common Reading Invited Lecture Oct. 7 Features Garbology Author Edward Humes

Faculty, staff, students, and the public are invited to a presentation by Edward Humes, author of Garbology, this year’s Common Reading book, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 in the CUB M.G. Carey Senior Ballroom.  A book signing will follow his lecture.

Humes is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author. Three of his books, including Garbology, focus on the environment, sustainability, and waste.

Garbology is in use in dozens of first-year and other classrooms across the disciplines. Common readings are intended to increase dialogue on academic topics among students and their professors.

This is the eighth year of the Common Reading Program, which is part of the Office of Undergraduate Education.
