Introduction to High Performance Computing (HPC)

Location:  Thomson Hall, Room 1 

A hands-on introduction to using the WSU high performance computing (HPC) systems and the underlying Linux operating system.  Designed for users with little or no Linux experience, there will be a heavy emphasis on the fundamentals required to successfully navigate through a Linux terminal environment.  Topics in Linux fundamentals include: using SSH; transferring files; navigating through Linux; tools to query and manipulate files; and writing shell scripts.  Additionally cluster specific topics will include: creating submission scripts; using cluster specific commands to submit and monitor jobs; and an introduction to parallel computing and MPI.  Registrants will be notified prior to the training on how to set up an account and how to access downloadable training materials.
