Social Media: Risky Business? A Public Forum Debate

Social media has proven an effective and simple way for people to connect, share information, and communicate. Its popularity cannot be denied, but since it has become so much easier and acceptable to put our lives on display, has social media become too risky? Social media allows us to instantly connect with friends and family, but having personal information so easily accessible online has compromised reputations as well as the safety of users. Do the risks outweigh the benefits? Can we use social media more wisely?

Come to the WSU Center for Civic Engagement’s Public Forum Debate “Social Media: Risky Business?” on Tuesday, October 22 at noon in Butch’s Den (CUB L60) to engage with the panel as they debate this topic. Global students are invited to attend this event digitally at mms://windowsmedia.wsu.edu/event (live stream) and https://chatanywhere.wsu.edu (chat feature). The live stream and chat will be available starting 11:50 AM. For more information on Public Forms, visit cce.wsu.edu/public-forums.
