Inequalities exposed by COVID‑19 centerpiece of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summit

WSU faculty, staff and students will be coming together to talk about inequalities exposed by the COVID‑19 pandemic as well as the impacts during the Fall 2020 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summit on Nov. 5.

Anyone wishing to participate is asked to register for the event, which will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will open with remarks from WSU President Kirk Schulz and Associate Vice President for Community, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence Jamie Nolan. WSU students will subsequently share stories of personal trials and tribulations stemming from the ongoing pandemic.

Representatives from each campus will discuss with participants how the pandemic could be a catalyst for significant change in equity, justice and community building. Closing remarks for this fall’s summit will be delivered by Elizabeth Chilton, provost and executive vice president and Mary Jo Gonzales, vice president of student affairs, followed by a question-and-answer session.
