With guest appearances ranging from Gov. Jay Inslee and U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers to former U.S. Defense Secretary Gen. James Mattis and hip hop star Macklemore, WSU’s online virtual celebration Saturday drew thousands of viewers to help salute the University system’s 5,532 graduates.

“You have persevered in the face of one of the most challenging times in modern history to reach this milestone moment in your life,” said President Schulz in his address to the graduating class. “Your willingness to confidently step up and tackle our shared challenges fills me with hope.”

Because the COVID-19 pandemic delayed traditional spring commencement ceremonies, the University held the virtual celebration to honor graduates at the close of the academic year.

Those who missed the celebration can still watch a video recording online.
