Washington State University’s fifth annual #CougsGive day of giving launches on April 10 at cougsgive.wsu.edu.

In the event’s first four years, WSU donors have given more than $1.4 million to student success, research support, scholarships, and various other WSU fundraising initiatives. It is a combination of online giving, social media sharing, fundraising campaigns, and celebrations across every campus of the WSU system.

The 2018 #CougsGive event generated a record 1,107 gifts and $420,225 in philanthropic support — a single-day fundraising record for WSU.

As an additional boost, WSU donors have committed an anticipated $100,000 in match and challenge gifts to inspire giving and participation on the day. These gifts are a combination of dollar-for-dollar matches and unlockable challenges based on various engagement activities.

The themes for #CougsGive 2019 are “Fund Your Passion” and “Support Student Success.” The WSU Foundation encourages all donors to identify and direct support to areas they are passionate about. All gifts received during #CougsGive directly impact student success initiatives and programs, and range from scholarships, to student travel funds, to study centers and more.

The entire Cougar community—alumni, friends, students, faculty, staff, and parents—are invited to be a part of #CougsGive on April 10. Those who are interested in supporting the event can make an online gift through the #CougsGive website, and then sign up to be a “Cougar Ambassador” and share emails, messages, and social media posts encouraging others to participate.

In 2018, one-fifth of all gifts during #CougsGive were referred directly by Cougar Ambassadors.

Giving days are growing in popularity at higher education institutions around the nation as single-day events celebrating the impact of philanthropic support and donor impact.

Those who have questions are encouraged to visit cougsgive.wsu.edu for more information.
