ORC staff offers winter recreation options

PULLMAN — The staff at the Outdoor Recreation Center is offering several options for the outdoor enthusiast this January.
 
The Outdoor Leadership: Winter Skills course will take place from Jan. 5 through Jan. 7. Participants will learn leadership skills that will prepare them to complete winter weather activities. Staff will teach various skills including constructing snow shelters, how to stay warm and snow terrain travel.  The cost to attend this course is $125 for Student Recreation Center members, $225 for non-members and registration closes Dec. 17.
 
Community members and students also have the opportunity to attend a camping trip in the Selway-Bitteroot Wilderness in Idaho with the staff of the ORC from Jan. 16 through Jan. 18. Participants on the trip will hike through old growth forests to Stanley Hot Springs to soak in the thermal pools and camp overnight.  No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided. The cost of the trip is $80 for SRC members, $95 for non-members and registration closes Jan. 12.
