High-energy band blends blues, funk, jazz

Musician Jude Bowerman will bring his high-energy act to the Washington State University campus on June 25 to highlight the release of his new album “Life Goes On.” The performance will be from noon-1 p.m. on Glenn Terrell Mall.

Bowerman covers a variety of musical styles that blend blues, funk jazz and rock into a high energy, groove-based sound, say critics. He and his award-winning band have shared a stage with the likes of Johnny Winter, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Melvin Seals, George Thorogood and more.

His live performances are said to be uplifting, with “non-stop infectious grooves punctuated by a distinctly original tone and firey guitar playing.” The gifted guitarist and vocalist is backed by Northwest renowned musicians Derek Brown on bass, Darin Watkins, drums, and Nathan Spicer on keyboard.

Bowerman was awarded the prestigious Summy Award for “Best Bluesman” and praised by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer as the best entertainment at Bumbershoot.

The performance is part of WSU’s summer Music on the Mall series sponsored by Campus Involvement.
