PEBB Eligible Employees: Surcharges and Wellness Incentive – What if I waived medical coverage?

Starting in April, employees who are enrolled in a PEBB Medical Plan, may be subject to a tobacco-use surcharge, and spousal/domestic partner surcharge, or be eligible for the SmartHealth Wellness Incentive. The only employees who will not need to address the questions on these subjects through their “My Account” on the Health Care Authority (HCA) website, are employees who waived participating in the WSU PEBB medical coverage. All employees are encouraged to create their “My Account”, and can do that at any time. Employees can return to their “My Account” in April to address the surcharge and wellness incentive questions.  Most likely, employees who waived participation in the medical coverage will find that there will be no answers they need to address.  In the event an employee elects to enroll in medical coverage in the future, they will be required to answer the surcharge/incentive questions at that time.
