Eighty rockets will fly at camp finale

RICHLAND — Eighty rockets will reach for the sky beginning at 9 a.m. this Friday (Aug. 1) as part of a “Space and Rocketry” one-week summer science camp at Washington State University Tri-Cities.
 
The rocket launch will take place on the Hanford High School sports field along Sprout Road, adjacent to the WSU Tri-Cities campus, 2710 University Drive, Richland. It will take about 90 minutes to launch all the rockets.
 
The Comet Rocket launch is the “big event” for about 80 elementary children who spent the week doing hands-on activities related to outer space, constellations, and the solar system.» More …

Kid’s camp: Gizmos, gadgets and goop

RICHLAND, Wash. — About 60 kids will show off their newly learned skills from this week’s “Gizmos, Gadgets and Goop” summer science camp at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, at Washington State University Tri-Cities.
 
The activities include making ice cream in a Ziploc bag, building towers and dropping balls containing LED sensors. The campers will be outside the Consolidated Information Center at 2770 University Drive, Richland.

The demonstration is the “big event” after a week of activities related to electronics, motors and inventions.

Tri-Cities offers K – 5 summer science camps

Washington State University Tri-Cities annual “Summer Science Camps for Kids” program kicks off June 30 with a second location and new programs for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.There will be six weeklong, hands-on sessions for children, four on the north Richland WSU campus and two in Pasco.Through new corporate and community partnerships, scholarships are available to students at all the science camps. “This year, we’ve teamed up with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties, Fluor and Key Bank to expand the camps we can offer and to provide scholarships,” said LoAnn Ayers, camps director.The Summer Science Camp sessions are offered … » More …
