Claussen-80PULLMAN, Wash. – As a child, Cathryn Claussen was devastated to learn only men played pro basketball and chagrined to sell Tupperware to fund her school sports uniform. Her consequent interest in gender equality and continuing passion for sports resulted in 10 years of service as director of the sport management program at Washington State University.

Researcher appointed to distinguished professorship

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University Regents Professor John Browse has been named the Charlotte Y. Martin Distinguished Professor in Agricultural Research. Browse is the second scientist to hold the Martin Professorship, which was created in 1991. The first was C.A. “Bud” Ryan, who died unexpectedly in late 2007.

Pharmacy establishes diabetes professorship

PULLMAN – A new endowed professorship for a diabetes educator in the College of Pharmacy at WSU will be held first by the professor for whom it is named.

Professor R. Keith Campbell has been appointed to the newly created “R. Keith Campbell Endowed Professorship in Diabetes Care,” effective Feb. 1.

The College raised from donors far more than the minimum required to establish an endowed professorship and wanted to put the money to work now, while continuing toward a $1 million goal, said College Dean James P. Kehrer.

Sweeney first ‘Distinguished Professor of Accounting’

Accounting Professor John T. Sweeney has been appointed the new Ted Saldin Distinguished Professor of Accounting position by the WSU College of Business and Economics.”It is fitting that a scholar and teacher of the caliber of Dr. Sweeney is our first Saldin Professor,” said CBE Dean Eric Spangenberg. “Dr. Saldin had a great impact on accounting education in our college and, very importantly, on the lives of the thousands of students he taught.
