WSU researchers find new uses for old wind turbine blades

PULLMAN, Wash. – How many giant wind turbine blades can your local landfill accommodate? To help avert such a problem, Washington State University is working with Seattle-based Global Fiberglass Solutions Inc. (GFS) to recycle and manufacture composite fiberglass material from the decommissioned blades.

PULLMAN, Wash. – Featuring the theme, “Advancing Public-Private Partnerships in Aerospace,” the second annual research symposium of The Joint Center for Aerospace Technology Innovation (JCATI) will be held April 21 in the Compton Union Building at Washington State University.

JCATI logoSEATTLE – Washington state’s Joint Center for Aerospace Technology Innovation (JCATI) will hold its first research symposium here June 24 on “The Future of Aerospace Innovation in Washington.’’ 

The all-day forum will be at the University of Washington’s Kane Hall. The event is $50 general admission and free for students.  

JCATI was established by the Washington legislature and governor’s office in 2012 to address technological questions important to the state’s aerospace industry. The center works to support the industry by pursuing research that is relevant to aerospace companies and by providing industry-focused research opportunities for students.
