Nobel laureate to speak on investments April 15

Harry Markowitz, Nobel laureate, will discuss “Portfolio Theory: Past, Present and Future,” at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, in Smith CUE 203. The public is invited to this annual Brinson Lecture in the College of Business and Economics.“Dr. Markowitz’s contributions changed the field of investments from a series of ad-hoc rules-of-thumb to a science,” said Rick Sias, professor of finance and the Gary P. Brinson Endowed Chair of Investment Management.Markowitz first published his ideas on modern investment portfolio theory in a 1952 article and later in a 1959 book.
