Renovation on track for 2008 reopening

The full spectrum of construction professionals could be seen scurrying about the Compton Union Building last week as large-scale renovation continues on track for the August 11, 2008 reopening.“We’re ahead of schedule by a couple weeks,” CUB Project Coordinator Travis Duncan said. “From the outside, a lot of people don’t see what’s being done. It’s really taking shape.”With an average daily crew size of 160 and a price tag of $86 million, the project is no small ordeal, Duncan said.  “They gutted that building.  Every pipe, every wire came out.”  Upon completion an extra 30,000 square feet will be added to the 240,000 square foot complex.  New … » More …
