Bullying, and at times even physical abuse, were not uncommon during Bella Butcher’s high school tenure – the realities of growing up gay in rural Oklahoma. Now, in her freshman year at WSU, Butcher is looking to help others navigating a similar path.

Addiction prevention scholar takes over as department chair

Michael Cleveland spends his days evaluating addiction and substance abuse prevention and working to understand why people relapse into addiction. But starting Jan. 1, 2020, Cleveland will take on more responsibilities as chair of WSU’s Department of Human Development.
