Members of the Washington State University Board of Regents set tuition rates for the upcoming 2025–26 academic year during Friday’s meeting in Seattle.
A 3.3% increase in tuition for undergraduate and graduate resident and non-resident students was approved. The increase is expected to generate an additional $3.6 million over fiscal year 2025.
The new tuition rates will amount to a full-time annual tuition rate increase of $373 for in-state undergraduates and $431 for in-state graduate students. Regents are expected to set tuition rates for professional students and self-sustaining programs at upcoming meetings.
Several regents thanked students who spoke during public comment about the impact tuition increases have on them, with Board Chair Lisa Keohokalole Schauer asking students to continue the dialogue with the board.
Regents also approved revisions to the Standard of Conduct for Students and set the 2026 Board of Regents meeting schedule.
During his presentation, WSU President Kirk Schulz highlighted the ribbon-cutting for the Center for Northwest Energy Futures, ongoing fall town hall events, and the memorandum of understanding signing ceremony with the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation, among other recent events.
WSU Everett Chancellor Paul Pitre addressed his campus’ partnerships with area employers and community colleges and a new online mental health services tool available to students during his presentation to regents.
