Renowned geneticist as keynote at CRB retreat

Dr. Robin Lovell-Badge

OROFINO – The Center for Reproductive Biology (CRB) annual retreat is May 14 at the Best Western Lodge at River’s Edge. The retreat is open to WSU/UI CRB members only.

Presenting the Keynote Address is renowned geneticist, leading researcher in sex determination and head of the Division of Developmental Genetics at the MRC National Institute for Medical Research in London, Dr. Robin Lovell-Badge.  In 1991 Lovell-Badge’s work led to the critical discovery of Sry as the testis-inducing locus in mammals and over the past two decades he has continued to spearhead efforts to understand the basis of mammalian sex determination.  He has received international acclaim for these efforts and we are delighted to welcome him to the CRB Retreat.

The annual Founder’s lecture will be provided by Dr. Terry M. Nett, Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Animal Reproduction & Biotechnology Laboratory at Colorado State University and WSU alum.  Dr. Nett’s research is directed at obtaining a better understanding of factors that regulate synthesis and secretion of hormones that control reproduction.  As an expert in reproductive endocrinology, Dr. Nett is currently involved in hypothalamic and pituitary function research.  We are pleased that Dr. Nett will be able to deliver our Founder’s lecture at the CRB Retreat this year.

Center Members, their staff and trainees are all encouraged to attend the retreat.  The retreat is designed to provide meaningful directed networking opportunities for all attendees.  Registration for the event can be completed online at http://crb.wsu.edu .  Trainees of all CRB Faculty are eligible to submit their abstracts (oral and poster competition) for the newly established CRB Travel Awards! The submission deadline has been extended to April 22.  Send abstract submissions to  crb@mail.wsu.edu
