Dad’s weekend crowded with events for WSU families and fans

PULLMAN — A full slate of activities will take place during WSU Dad’s Weekend Nov. 7-9 as the Cougars will face the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Martin Stadium.
 
Friday events include the Feast of the Arts at 6 p.m. at the Museum of Art and Todd Hall Dining Room 268. The event features music, art reception and dinner, including premium, award-winning wines from across Washington State and hors d’oeuvres.
 
Brewfest will take place from 5-7 p.m. and 8-10 p.m. at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Events Center. The event is organized by members of Sigma Iota, a student –run association in the School of Hospitality and Business Management. Along with a selection of beers from the Northwest, there will be hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and a live band. Tickets are $30 and are available at www.brewfest.wsu.edu.
 
The National Student Advertising Competition Team will hold an auction 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the College of Communication Addition Atrium. Admission is $5 and includes a beverage and viewing of “The World’s Most Outrageous Television Commercials” in the Communication Addition (CADD) Auditorium.
 
At 7 p.m. the School of Music will offer its annual Vocal Extravaganza in Bryan Hall Theater. This event is a celebration of vocal music featuring the WSU School of Music Concert Choir, University Singers, Opera Workshop, Madrigals and Vocal Jazz. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors.
 
On Saturday, people can witness the fifth Annual Pumpkin Drop. The event will be held in conjunction with the “Colors of Chemistry” show 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Fulmer 226. The Pumpkin Drop will take place 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the north side of Webster Hall, in the mall between the Institute for Shock Physics and Webster.
 
An opportunity to visit and play at the new Palouse Ridge Golf Club will take place starting 8 a.m. with Game Day Golf. The package includes an 18-hole round, cart, a sleeve of Palouse Ridge golf balls, bag tag and towel, plus lunch provided by the new clubhouse restaurant, Banyan’s on the Ridge. General admission is $119 and $109 for WSU Alumni Association members.
 
For those looking for a big show, the Montgomery Gentry will perform at 8:30 p.m. at Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum. Tickets are $58.
