Kirschner elected vp

Annabel Kirschner, professor and extension sociologist at Washington State University, has been elected vice president of the Rural Sociological Society for 2007-08.

The professional association promotes the generation, application and dissemination of sociological knowledge, in particular with respect to enhancing the quality of rural life, communities and the environment.

Kirschner received the Excellence in Extension and Public Outreach Award at the 68th annual meeting of the Rural Sociological Society in 2005.

She joined the faculty of WSU’s rural sociology department, now community and rural sociology department, in 1979. She served as department chair from 1997-2004.
