Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., was on the WSU Pullman campus this (Tuesday) morning to tour the site of the proposed federal Agricultural Research Service (ARS) facility, the third building in WSU’s planned research and education complex.
In the photos, Pete Jacoby, associate dean, College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences, shows Murray plans for the seven-building complex. They are inside the complex’s first completed building, plant biosciences.
The group then walks past the foundation of the second building, life sciences, which is expected to be completed in May 2009. Then they pass the site of the ARS lab building, which, according to the Capital Planning and Development website, is in the design phase.
The ARS is a joint federal/state project, and Murray’s visit was meant to emphasize its importance and signal her support. She acknowledged her intention to work for federal funding for the facility in Washington, D.C.
