Women of Color Symposium

PULLMAN – Dolores Huerta, co-founder with Caesar Chavez of United Farm Workers, will deliver the opening keynote speech for the Women of Color Symposium at 7:30 p.m. March 2 at the Gladish Community Center Auditorium.

The symposium, organized and facilitated by the the Coalition for Women Students at WSU, will take place at the Gladish Community Center March 2-3. General admission to Huerta’s presentation is $2.00, and free to students and registrants for the symposium.

On Saturday March 3, starting at 9 a.m. there will be a racial justice training by Vazaskia Caldwell and Miriam Barnett. The Women of Color Awards luncheon will take place at 11:30 a.m., followed by speeches and workshops with African-American artist, writer and performer damali ayo; Latina community organizer Rosalinda Guillen; Cecelia Fire Thunder, an Oglala Sioux tribal leader and reproductive choice activist; and Haunani-Kay Trask, a Hawaiian indigenous rights activist and writer.
