Paintings by Ake Lianga are on display through Feb. 23 at Fine Arts Gallery II, WSU Pullman.
Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Lianga’s work reflects his upbringing in the Solomon Islands and his experiences living for the last 10 years in British Columbia.
“Few people are aware of the extraordinarily vibrant and important contemporary art coming out of the Pacific,” said Carol Ivory, chair of the Department of Fine Arts at WSU. “Lianga looks both backwards and forwards, bringing mythology, history and the contemporary world together in riveting works of art.”
