Week Without Violence planned

The annual Week Without Violence, sponsored by the YWCA of WSU, will be observed Mon.-Fri., Oct. 16-20, with a variety of programs and projects.

The Clothesline Project — 500 t-shirts painted by family and friends of victims of violence — will be displayed daily 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Glenn Terrell Mall. The Take Back the Night march, organized by the Coalition for Women Students, will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in front of Todd Hall. A film, discussions and cultural presentations also are planned.

During the week, many different organizations participate to raise awareness among the public about violence, particularly violence that targets victims based on their gender, gender identity and race.

A calendar of events will be available online soon. In the meantime, for more information, visit www.women.wsu.edu/Organizations/ywca/index.html.
