PULLMAN- Construction of 12 WSU outdoor tennis courts will hopefully be completed Oct. 26, said Louise Sweeney, project manager for Capital Planning.
The project completion was delayed after unsatisfactory soil was found at the existing driving range that needed to be removed. The project, which began in May, is still on budget at $3 million.
The courts needed to be relocated due to the planned construction of a second building in the WSU Research and Education Complex, the WSU Biotechnology/Life Sciences Facility.
Lydig Construction, a company out of Spokane, is overseeing the project. The asphalt paving is finished, and the next step is apply an acrylic finish to the top, Sweeney said. The finish can not be applied until the weather allows, however.
“We don’t want to jeopardize the finish on the courts,” she said.
