Expansion in the works

After doing the inside work of consistently producing high-caliber exhibits, the museum staff is ready to tackle the outside work of creating a high-caliber exhibit space.

While still in the discussion phase, a major renovation and expansion has received the blessing of the President’s Office as one of the university’s top priorities, said Chris Bruce.

His five-member staff has proved it can produce exhibits, he said, but now it needs a worthy venue to showcase the work.

While fundraising has yet to begin, a vision is growing. Bruce sees the museum not only as an inviting and exciting exhibit space, but as an artistic welcome center of sorts, educating and directing students, staff and visitors to the many works of art on exhibit throughout the Pullman campus — from the Marian E. Smith Glass Collection housed at the Center for Undergraduate Education, to the “Bookin” sculpture on the Terrell Mall.
