WSU Education Professors Receive Award

PULLMAN, Wash. — Professor Gail Furman and assistant professor David Gruenewald, both of the Washington State University College of Education, received honorable mention for the 2004 William J. Davis Memorial Award for their article “Expanding the Landscape of Social Justice:  A Critical Ecological Analysis.”

The Davis Award is presented annually to the “most outstanding article” published in the previous year in Educational Administration Quarterly, the premier research journal in the field of educational leadership.

The committee selected the article by Furman and Gruenewald for honorable mention because it “made a significant contribution in helping to more clearly define and enhance our understanding of social justice and gave practical entry points for both pedagogy and school leadership.”

The article appeared in the research journal’s February 2004 issue. Furman also received the Davis Award in 1998.
