Washington State University welcomes Lance J. Ewing, vice president for Caesar’s Entertainment, to campus on Monday Oct. 25, to present the annual Walton Lecture. Ewing serves as risk manager for the company.
He will discuss the concept of enterprise risk management (ERM) at 4:30 p.m. in Todd 130. The public is welcome, and a reception will be held following the lecture. ERM programs address all risks faced by a business.
Ewing served as national president and chief risk officer for the Risk and Insurance Management Society in 2003-2004. He serves on numerous industry boards including the Academy of Producer Insurance, Willis Client Advisory Board, Zurich Client board and the AIG Advisory Board.
Caesar’s operates hotel and gaming operations in Nevada, New Jersey and Mississippi with company assets amounting to more than $9 billion as of 2003. The company employs 55,000 workers. Prior to joining Caesar’s Entertainment, Ewing was senior director of risk management for the GES Exposition Services and City of Philadelphia School District.
The Walton Lecture is sponsored by the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Washington (IIABW) to honor its past president Max Walton. The first lecture took place in 1993. Past speakers have included leaders in the field of risk management and insurance, including Mike McGavick, president and CEO of Safeco Insurance, and Mike Kreidler, insurance commissioner for the state of Washington.
