VANCOUVER, Wash. — Washington State University Vancouver celebrates the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr. with an on-campus presentation by Benjamin Hardy of Flooney’s Theater at noon Tuesday (Jan. 20) in the Student Services Building auditorium.
Hardy will perform, in the persona of King, the “I Have a Dream” and “I’ve Been to the Mountain” speeches. The event is free and open to the public. Cake and refreshments will be served.
Following the presentation, WSU Vancouver Student Services will present the 2003 Student Services Humanitarian Award. It was created in 2001 to honor individuals who are making significant contributions to the community with their time, actions and dedication. WSU Vancouver students, alumni or organizations are eligible. Last year’s award was presented to Omar Canaday, a WSU Vancouver graduate, in recognition of his creation of the “All I Need Fund” and composition and performance of the song “All I Need” on a self-produced CD.
WSU Vancouver is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205. Parking is available in the blue lot for $1.50 or at parking meters.
