Harpist Deborah Hanson-Conant, whom the Boston Globe called “a cross between Leonard Bernstein, Steven Tyler and Xena, the Warrior Princess,” will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, in Bryan Hall Theatre. Sponsored by the Visual, Performing and Literary Arts Committee of Washington State University Pullman, the concert is free.
Henson-Conant rocked onto the jazz charts in the late 1980s. Since then she’s released a dozen albums, from straight-ahead jazz to Celtic, blues, folk-pop and spoken word. With her solid-state, electric blue body-harp slung around her neck, Henson-Conant gives the concept of the “Troubadour Harpist” a whole new image.
