TRI-CITIES, Wash. — Battellle, the Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau and Washington State University Tri-Cities are launching a lecture series to mark the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
Well–known teacher, speaker and author Dr. John Logan Allen makes the first presentation in the series at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, in the Battelle Auditorium on the PNNL campus in north Richland.
Allen’s free lecture is “Mountains of Myths, Rivers of Wonder: Jefferson, Lewis and Clark and the Early Vision of the American West.”
One of America’s leading authorities on the Lewis and Clark Expedition, which passed through the Snake and Columbia country, Allen lectures widely on the exploration and history of the American West.
The author of “Passage Through the Garden: Lewis and Clark and the Image of the American Northwest,” Allen is currently at work on his latest book, “The Changing Landscapes of Lewis and Clark: 1804–2004.”
The lecture is free to the public and seating is limited.
