Visiting Writer Series Continues with Poet

PULLMAN Wash. — The Washington State University English department continues the 2002-03 Visiting Writer Series with poet Gary Gildner at 7:30 p.m. March 12 in the WSU Museum of Art.

Gildner is best known for his eight books of poetry, including “The Bunker in the Parsley Field,” winner of the 1996 Iowa Poetry Prize. He has also written two novels, a collection of short stories and a memoir, “The Warsaw Sparks,” written while he was a Fulbright lecturer at the University of Warsaw, Poland.

Is awards include a Pushcart Prize, National Magazine Award for Fiction, William Carlos Williams and Theodore Roethke poetry prizes, a Robert Frost Fellowship and two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts.
