PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University will continue the 2002-03 Young Concert Artists Series with violinist Nicolas Kendall in concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 16 in Bryan Hall Theater.
Accompanied by pianist Pei Yao Wang, Kendall, 23, will perform a variety of pieces, including compositions by Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962) and César Franck (1822-1890), Daniel Kellogg, four nocturnes by George Crumb and four souvenirs by Paul Schoenfield. Tickets are general admission and $10 for adults and $7 for students.
Kendall has won several awards, including first prize in the 2002 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and the Pennsylvania Prize with the Janet Weis Award.
As a chamber music player, Kendall has performed in a variety of events and venues, including the Isaac Stern Chamber Music Seminar at Carnegie Hall, the Netherlands Embassy in Washington, D.C. and the Los Angeles Chamber Music Festival.
His grandfather, John Kendall, was the first string teacher to introduce the Suzuki method in the United States, and he, too, is enthusiastic about playing for children in outreach performances.
